Leo 1st decan (July 23–August 2): personality and meaning

From about July 23 to August 2, depending on the year and time of birth, the first decan of Leo lives under the Sun’s double rulership. You’re the most solar Leo: proud, warm, creative, with a self-confidence that seems to come from somewhere deep. You need to shine, not out of vanity but because radiating is your natural way of being and giving. Your generosity is spontaneous, your loyalty absolute, and your presence fills a room without your having to raise your voice. You were made to create, lead and celebrate life with panache.

In love, you love like a sovereign: with grandeur, fidelity and a deep need to be admired in return. You give gifts, memorable moments, unconditional protection, and you expect your partner to be proud of you. At work, the first decan of Leo excels in leadership, entertainment, the arts, teaching, event planning, politics: anywhere that calls for embodying and inspiring. Your relationships gravitate naturally around you; you’re the generous host, the friend who throws the parties, the one who defends their people tooth and nail and whose support never wavers.

Your key to growth is radiant humility. A doubled Sun can make you believe your worth depends on how others see you, and a criticism or a bit of indifference can then hurt far more than it should. Learn to draw your confidence from within, from what you create and give, not from applause. When your light no longer depends on who’s watching, it becomes inextinguishable, and you can then illuminate others expecting nothing in return, which is the noblest and most magnetic form of Leo royalty.
