Jupiter conjunct Jupiter transit: meaning, duration and advice

Your natal Jupiter tells how you trust life: the part of you that believes tomorrow can be bigger than today, that says yes to offers, that learns, travels and looks for meaning. When transiting Jupiter comes back to settle on it, no other energy gets mixed in: the planet recharges itself, at its own degree, and the counter resets to zero. Everything you’ve learned, believed and hoped for since the last return condenses into a joyful review, then opens up again. Your beliefs, your appetite for horizons, your way of attracting opportunities are all made new. This is the transit that gives faith back, in the simplest sense of the word: the urge to bet on yourself.

In daily life, appetite comes back first. You want to learn something new, pick a language back up, go farther than usual, meet people who think differently. The days feel more spacious and your mood more generous, and other people notice: they make you offers, they invite you, they listen to you with a kindness you never asked for. The mood is that of a fresh school year you’ve been eagerly waiting for. The questions that keep circling aren’t anxious, they’re wide: what do I still truly believe? What would I like to understand about the world before the next lap? Where has my life become too narrow for who I am today?

This return asks you to choose one direction of growth, and only one, at least to begin with. Jupiter enlarges everything it touches: say yes to everything and what it will enlarge is your scattered energy. The risk of Jupiter conjunct Jupiter lies in that excess of optimism that promises three things to three people, that commits to a whole year on one enthusiastic evening, that feels safe because everything is smiling on it. The gift matches the scale of the cycle: renewed faith in your own path, a sense of meaning you had lost sight of, and concrete openings that arrive because you look like you believe again. What you sow during these weeks colors the twelve years that follow.

Jupiter moves fast for a slow-moving planet: within a one-degree orb, the conjunction lasts a few weeks, and up to seven or eight months when its retrograde brings it back over your degree for two more passes. The Jupiter return falls at roughly the same age for everyone, since the planet takes a little under twelve years to complete the zodiac: around 12, the first widening of the world; around 24, the entry into adult life and its first choices; around 36, the search for meaning that comes with maturity; around 48, then 60 and 72, the returns when you know better what deserves to be made bigger. Each time, the conjunction arrives a little before the round-number birthday.

You’re living it if Jupiter is moving through the sign it occupied at your birth, at the same degree give or take a degree or two. Your free birth chart, calculated on the site, gives you that sign and degree; the sky-of-the-day page tells you where Jupiter stands now. And if you’re approaching 24, 36 or 48, look closely: the return is underway or very close.
