Jupiter trine Mars transit: meaning, duration and advice

During this transit, Jupiter moves through a sign of the same element as your natal Mars, fire, earth, air or water, 120 degrees away from it. Your way of acting, wanting and asserting yourself meets the planet of confidence in a climate of agreement: the two speak the same language, and whatever one proposes, the other knows how to carry out. What gets activated is your aptitude for acting with precision and breadth at once, for taking an initiative that lands at the right moment, for rallying people around you without having to raise your voice. The trine doesn’t recharge your Mars the way the conjunction does, and doesn’t shake it up the way the square does: it lets what is already in you flow, and flow widely.

You recognize it by a feeling of being in top shape, physically and mentally. The days follow one another with an unusual drive, training gives back what you put into it, and the tasks that were dragging along get settled almost on their own. People say yes more easily, a boss hands you the project you had your eye on, a friend pulls you into an adventure that feels like you. Desire is joyful, direct, free of ulterior motives, and the usual frictions untangle with a good humor that surprises even you. The question that keeps coming back is one you rarely ask yourself: What would I undertake if I were certain it would work, and why not start it now?

What Jupiter trine Mars asks of you is nothing painful, and that is exactly why it gets overlooked: ambition in action. Go after the challenge you still judged too big, step out in front, accept the responsibility that shows up with a smile. The danger is to take these weeks for a mere vacation for your willpower, fine weather you enjoy without planting anything, and to find yourself empty-handed when the climate changes. For whoever puts it to use, the return is exceptional: a project carried a long way with pleasure, allies won by acting rather than by persuading, confidence in your ability to act, anchored in results, and a precise memory of what you can accomplish when nothing holds you back.

Within a one-degree orb, the trine of Jupiter to Mars lasts a few weeks in a single pass, or seven to eight months when the retrograde loop brings Jupiter back over your degree; in that case the three phases unfold without a jolt: the first opens the period of support, the second extends it and lets you go deeper, the last consolidates what was launched. Jupiter forms two trines to your Mars per twelve-year cycle: the waxing one, about four years after the conjunction, between the square that builds and the opposition that confronts, and the waning one, about four years before the next conjunction, which lets you harvest what the cycle has sown.

This trine is active if Jupiter is today in a sign of the same element as your Mars, four signs away in either direction, at a degree number close to its own.
