Your future partner: the portrait of the person your chart calls in

Your chart does not only speak of you: it also draws the person you walk alongside. The Descendant, the ruler of the 7th house, the Jaimini Darakaraka and the Navamsha together compose a portrait. Not a name, not a date: qualities, an energy, areas of life where the bond belongs, and how to recognise it when it shows up.

Your date, time and place of birth. Without the time, the reading works from your planets: the exact time adds the houses, the Ascendant and the Vedic charts.

A portrait, never a prophecy

Let us be clear from the start: this reading will not announce a meeting for next month, nor the colour of your future partner’s eyes, nor their job. That is not what the 7th house knows how to do. It describes a presence, a quality of exchange, a balance your chart is trying to reach with someone.

That is more useful than a date. A date passes, a portrait stays: it helps you see why some people leave you cold at first glance while others matter straight away. The site composes this portrait from your exact chart, positions calculated to the degree, without inventing anything the chart does not say.

You, or the person across from you

The love reading looks at the way you love: Venus, Mars, the Moon, your needs. This one turns the chart around. It focuses on the seventh sign counted from your Ascendant, the place tradition reserves for the other, and on the planets that stand for them. The two pages answer each other: one tells what you give, the other what you attract and what completes you.

The six angles of your reading

At the top of the page, the “What your reading looks at” block lists your positions, each linked to its page. The reading brings them together in six parts:

  • The portrait of your partner: the Descendant, the ruler of the 7th house and the planets living in it.
  • The soul who joins you: your Darakaraka, the planet with the lowest degree in its sign in Jaimini astrology.
  • Your partner in your D9: the 7th house and the Ascendant of the Navamsha, and Venus in that chart.
  • Where your paths cross: the houses of Venus, the 5th and the 11th, the areas of life where the bond finds its place.
  • How to recognise this person: the Moon, Mars and Venus, what makes you feel at home with someone.
  • Your gesture to welcome them: one simple thing to do, now, to make room for that bond.

The first sketch: the Descendant and the 7th ruler

The sign of the Descendant sets the overall colour. A Capricorn Descendant seeks a steady person who keeps their word and builds; an Aries Descendant, a frank presence who dares; a Pisces Descendant, someone intuitive, open to the unseen. The ruler of that sign sharpens the line: the house it sits in shows the world the person seems to come from into your life, or what the bond leads you to invest in.

Planets placed in the 7th house add their colour. Jupiter brings generosity and often a difference of culture or outlook; Saturn, seriousness, sometimes an age gap or a bond that takes its time; Mercury, a complicity of words. Their detail is read on the houses page and on the page of the D1, the birth chart in Vedic astrology.

The Darakaraka: finding the planet of your spouse

Jaimini ranks the seven planets, from the Sun to Saturn, by their degree within their sign, regardless of the sign itself. The furthest along is the Atmakaraka, the soul; the least advanced is the Darakaraka, the person who shares your life. The Jaimini karakas page explains the whole ranking.

Take some imagined degrees: Sun at 14°, Moon at 3°12′, Mars at 22°, Mercury at 9°, Jupiter at 27°, Venus at 18°, Saturn at 11°. The Moon has the lowest degree: it is the Darakaraka. The portrait then takes on a lunar colour, a sensitive, attentive person who reassures through presence more than speeches. With Mars as Darakaraka, it would be energy and initiative; with Mercury, wit and play.

The sign and house of the Darakaraka matter as much as the planet. A Moon Darakaraka in Capricorn keeps its tenderness, but expresses it through reliability and deeds.

The Navamsha, chart of the spouse

Parashara entrusts the spouse to the D9. The sign of the 7th house of the D9 and its ruler restate the portrait given by the Descendant, sometimes confirming it, sometimes shading it: a talkative Gemini Descendant can become, in the D9, a more reserved Capricorn 7th house. You then keep a partner who charms through the mind and reassures through constancy.

The Ascendant of the D9 matters too: it shows the person you are in intimacy, the one your partner discovers over time. Venus in the D9, finally, shows the gentleness the bond brings and what it asks you to cultivate.

The areas of life where your paths cross

The fourth part gives no city and no address. It looks at the areas of life where your chart places love: the house of Venus, the 5th house of pleasure and creation, the 11th house of friendships and shared projects. Venus in the 9th speaks of studies, travel, teachings; a busy 11th house, of circles of friends, associations, shared causes; a strong 5th, of leisure, art, play.

These are areas, not appointments: the parts of life where you are most fully yourself, and so those where a fitting bond has the best chance to take root.

An example of a portrait

An imagined chart: Gemini Ascendant, so a Sagittarius Descendant, ruled by Jupiter, placed in Pisces in the 10th house; the Moon as Darakaraka, in Libra; in the D9, a Leo Ascendant and an Aquarius 7th house; Venus in Aries in the 11th house.

The portrait: a person open to the world, who carries meaning, often tied to your public or working life. Their soul is gentle and seeks balance; in the D9, they keep an independent mind, ideas of their own. The bond readily grows within a circle of friends or a shared project. What makes this person recognisable: the way they let you breathe while staying close.

With someone already in your life?

If you already share your life with someone, the portrait still speaks: it shows what your chart looks for in the bond, and what your partner brings you. To compare your two charts, synastry and the couple page take over; for a precise question, your chart answers you. Your full birth chart is one step away.

The portrait of the other reads better once you know how you love. Venus, Mars, the Moon and your D9, from the heart’s side:

Frequently asked questions

What is the Darakaraka?

In Jaimini astrology, it is the planet with the lowest degree in its sign among the seven classical planets, from the Sun to Saturn. It stands for the spouse: its nature, sign and house draw the person who shares your life and what that bond comes to bring you.

Can you see your soulmate in your birth chart?

You see the portrait of the person the chart calls in: their qualities, their energy, the kind of bond that helps you grow. The Descendant, the 7th house, the Darakaraka and the 7th house of the D9 are read together. A chart gives no name and no face, it gives you what you need to recognise the right bond.

Does the reading tell me when I will meet my partner?

No, and that is deliberate. It gives no date, no precise place, no physical appearance, no certain job. It describes a presence and dynamics, then the areas of life where the bond belongs, so that you know how to recognise it when the time comes.

What does the 7th house of the D9 mean?

It is the seventh sign counted from the Ascendant of the Navamsha, the chart Vedic tradition opens for the spouse. Its sign and its ruler refine the portrait given by the Descendant of the birth chart, either confirming or shading it.

Why is the birth time needed?

The Descendant, the houses and the Ascendant of the D9 all depend on it, and the latter changes sign in about a dozen minutes. Without a time, the reading uses the Western chart alone, without houses or Descendant, and the Vedic charts, including the reading of the Darakaraka in the D9, are not opened.

My current partner does not match the portrait: is that a problem?

No. The portrait describes what your chart looks for in the bond, not a checklist. A person can embody it differently than expected, or bring you a part of it that grows over time. To read your relationship as a pair, compare your charts with synastry.
