Neptune conjunct Pluto: meaning in the birth chart

The Neptune-Pluto conjunction happens only about once every five hundred years, and it opens an entire cycle of civilization. The most recent one formed in Gemini in 1891 and 1892, just as cinema, the automobile, radio, psychoanalysis and modern art were being born: the collective imagination and the deep forces of society came into agreement to invent new languages. People born in those years lived through World War I in their twenties and carried the boldest artistic and scientific creation of the 20th century. No one alive today has this conjunction in their natal chart, yet we all live inside the cycle it opened.

When a Neptune-Pluto conjunction touches a personal planet or an angle, it gives a visionary sensitivity and a power of imagination capable of reshaping reality. On the Sun, it makes you a carrier of myths, giving form to the deep currents of your time. On the Moon, it grants an oceanic inner life where dreams, grief and rebirth blend together. On Mercury, it brings out a poetic, penetrating mind able to name the unspeakable. On Venus, it gives a mystical, all-in kind of love. On the Ascendant, it produces an elusive, magnetic presence; on the Midheaven, a vocation as a creator, healer or groundbreaking thinker.

The key to an alliance like this is embodiment. The combined forces of Neptune and Pluto can dissolve you into the imaginary, the ideal or emotional intensity, far from the concrete world. Give your visions a body: a work of art, a commitment, a daily practice, a profession where your deep sensitivity turns into useful action. Surround yourself with grounded people who remind you what time it is and when to eat. When it is fully lived in, this conjunction makes you a bridge between the invisible and the real, someone whose presence reminds others that a new world is always possible.
