How it works

The context of your tailored reading: what the reading should know about you

The context is an optional field of the tailored reading PDF: up to 4,000 characters, about six hundred words, which you write or dictate. In it you describe your situation, what you are going through, what you are trying to understand. It comes before everything else: the guiding thread starts from it, each chapter says what your chart sheds on it, and the summary comes back to it.

What is the context for in your PDF?

Your tailored reading starts from your exact chart, computed to the place and the minute, and from your choices: the reading, the topics, the style, your question. The context adds what the chart cannot say on its own, the moment of life you are in. The same Moon in the 6th house does not read the same way for someone launching a business and for someone catching their breath after an exhausting year.

That is why it takes priority throughout the PDF, from the first chapter to the last. The PDF is composed from your exact chart, your choices and this context; how our texts are written explains how. In practice:

  • The guiding thread: the line that opens your PDF, on the cover, starts from your situation.
  • Each chapter: what your chart sheds on that situation in its own area, love, work, family or life path, with levers that fit what you are living through.
  • The summary: three strengths, three levers and one direction, turned towards what you are going through.
  • Your topics and your question: the context ties them together; your question keeps the chapter that answers it.

What should you put in the context?

Write the way you would talk to someone you trust, without looking for astrological words: the reading takes care of the chart. A few precise sentences are often enough, and you can go up to about six hundred words; the counter under the field shows where you are. What helps most:

  • What is happening: a job change, a breakup, a move, a tired spell, a project getting started.
  • What you feel: doubt, momentum, the sense of going round in circles, the wish for something else.
  • What you are trying to understand: why the same situation keeps coming back, which direction to give your work, what gives you strength again.
  • What matters to you: the people, values and places that weigh in your choices.

Your main question and the context work together: the question says what you want to know, and a chapter answers it; the context says where you are asking it from. Layout or delivery instructions have no place there: the reading does not use them.

Dictating your context instead of typing it

Under the field, the “Dictate” button opens the microphone. Dictation is continuous: you speak freely, sentence after sentence, and the text is written as you go, after what is already there. It stops when you tap “Stop”, or when you fall silent. You then read it over and correct with the keyboard whatever needs it.

  1. In your space, tap “Compose my tailored reading” and scroll down to the context field.
  2. Tap “Dictate”, allow the microphone if your browser asks, then speak.
  3. Tap “Stop” when you have finished, read it over, then complete or correct it with the keyboard.

Dictation is your browser’s own, Safari on iPhone and Mac, Chrome or Edge: the sound never reaches us, only the text is written in the field. The button only appears if your browser can dictate; otherwise, your phone keyboard’s dictation does the same job.

A PDF given as a gift: describing the person’s situation

When you compose a loved one’s reading to give to them, the context describes their situation, as you know it. The reading always speaks to the person whose chart it is, never to you: your message stays on the first page, and the context guides the chapters.

Only put in what they would agree to share. The PDF rephrases the context with tact, without copying your sentences or going into intimate detail: it speaks of what their chart sheds light on. For the rest of the gift, see give a birth chart reading.

Health, hardship, a difficult time: what the reading does, and does not do

You can mention an illness, a lasting tiredness, a bereavement or a hardship. The reading then accompanies you through it: your resources, what recharges you, what you can lean on, the meaning you can find in this period, and gentle steps within your reach. The “Vitality and inner resources” topic goes the same way, with a whole chapter: see the topics of the tailored reading.

It never makes a diagnosis, never reads an illness into a placement, never gives a prognosis and never offers care or treatment advice. It never replaces the advice of your care team: it is read alongside, as support.

The context and Vedic astrology

If you choose “With Vedic astrology”, the context also picks the divisional charts, before your topics. A context that speaks of health or tiredness calls for the D6 and the D27; a bereavement, a crisis or a hardship, the D8 and the D30; your work, the D10; karma or the soul, the D60 and the D9. The D6, D8 and D30 are read as trials and the strength to get through them, never as misfortune foretold: Vedic astrology in your PDF.

What happens to your context

The context often touches on your private life, sometimes on your health. So it is handled separately from the rest of your order:

  • Never with our payment provider: the order only tells it that a context exists, never what it says.
  • Never in an e-mail: neither the order confirmation nor your PDF’s e-mail repeats it.
  • Filed separately, while the PDF is composed: in your order’s private folder, read again when your PDF is composed.
  • Deleted as soon as your PDF is sent, and two days later if the order never goes through.

The context is data, never an instruction: a request that steps outside the reading, changing the rules, adding a link, talking about something other than your chart, is simply ignored. The details about your data: the privacy policy.

Your situation in mind, or on the tip of your tongue? The context is written or dictated when you compose your tailored reading, included in My Birth Chart+, from your space.

Frequently asked questions

Is the context of the tailored reading required?

No, it is optional. Without it, your tailored reading starts from your exact chart, the topics you chose and your main question, if you wrote one. With it, the whole reading turns towards your situation: the guiding thread, every chapter and the summary.

How long can the context be?

Up to 4,000 characters, about six hundred words; the counter under the field shows where you are. A few precise sentences are often enough: what is happening, what you feel, what you are trying to understand.

Can I dictate the context instead of typing it?

Yes, with the “Dictate” button under the field, if your browser can dictate: Safari on iPhone and Mac, Chrome or Edge. Dictation is continuous and stops when you tap “Stop” or fall silent. The sound never reaches us: only the text is written in the field.

What happens to my context after the PDF is sent?

It is deleted as soon as your PDF has gone. It is never passed on to our payment provider nor written in an e-mail, and the context of an order that never goes through is deleted two days later.

Can I mention my health in the context?

Yes. The reading then accompanies the way you go through this period: your resources, what recharges you, what you can lean on, gentle steps. It makes no diagnosis, reads no illness into the chart, gives no prognosis and never replaces the advice of your care team.

What should go in the context of a reading given as a gift?

The situation of the person who will receive it, as you know it, and only what they would agree to share. The reading speaks to them, rephrases with tact and does not copy your sentences; your personal message stays on the first page.
