How it works

Vedic astrology in your tailored reading: crossing the charts, chapter by chapter

With the “With Vedic astrology” option, your tailored reading PDF crosses your Vedic chart and your Western chart in every chapter, and adds a “Your Vedic chart” chapter. The divisional charts are chosen from your topics and your context: the D9 for relationships, the D10 for career, the D60 for karma.

What the option adds to your PDF

The tailored reading first reads your Western chart, the zodiac of the seasons. Choose “With Vedic astrology” on the composing page: the site also calculates your Vedic chart, in the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa and whole-sign houses, and the reading crosses the two, chapter by chapter. The PDF is still composed from your exact charts, never from placements quoted from memory.

  • A “Your Vedic chart” chapter: the Ascendant and the Moon of your D1 with their nakshatras, your strong planets, the Atmakaraka and the Karakamsha, your current Vimshottari major period and the next one, then the D9.
  • The crossing in every requested chapter: the sidereal D1 and the topic’s charts, in two to four sentences, and your current period when it touches the topic.
  • Sentences that name their chart: “in Vedic astrology…”, “in your D9…”. Placements from the two zodiacs are never mixed.

Your Sun may change sign from one zodiac to the other: about 24 degrees separate them, and that is normal. The PDF says so once, simply; the details are in tropical or sidereal.

How the crossing is read

Vedic astrology does not replace the Western chart: it confirms, deepens or nuances it. When several charts repeat the same signature, a strong Venus in the Western chart, the ruler of the 7th house well placed in the D9, the reading treats it as solid; a lone indication remains a nuance. This is the method described in crossing the charts.

The “Your Vedic chart” chapter comes just before your tailored chapters: it sets out the sidereal portrait, says where it meets your Western chart and where it sheds a different light. Each requested chapter then draws on the charts for its topic, every Vedic sentence naming its own.

Which divisional chart for which topic?

Each topic calls for its charts, always read with the D1. These are not rigid rules, but the meaning of each chart, as the tradition gives it:

  • Relationship, meeting someone, attraction, compatibility: the D9, the chart of the bond; a breakup adds the D8.
  • Calling: the D10 and the D9; success: the D10 and the D5; career change: the D10 and the D8; starting a venture: the D10 and the D2.
  • Money: the D2 and the D11; studies: the D24.
  • Parents: the D12; children: the D7; siblings: the D3; family legacy: the D12 and the D60; friendships: the D11 and the D3.
  • Talents: the D60, the D9 and the D5, for the direction of your growth; karma: the D60, the D9 and the D5; lunar nodes: the D9 and the D60; mission: the D9, the D10 and the D20.
  • Spiritual path, intuition: the D20 and the D9; 12th house, Neptune: the D20.
  • Vitality: the D27 and the D6; Chiron: the D30 and the D6; shadow side: the D8 and the D30; confidence: the D3 and the D27; emotions: the D4; creativity: the D5 and the D7.
  • Moving home, travel: the D4; living abroad: the D4 and the D12.

Current cycles, Saturn return, eclipses, major transits, are crossed with the sidereal D1 and your current Vimshottari period rather than with a divisional chart. Every chart and its area of life: the divisional charts.

Your context also picks charts

Your context comes first, before your topics. Its words call for their charts: a context that speaks of health or tiredness calls for the D6 and the D27; a bereavement, a crisis or a hardship, the D8 and the D30; karma or the soul, the D60 and the D9; work, the D10; money, the D2 and the D11. A chart you name yourself, “my D45”, comes in too, just as in a topic of your own.

The reading you choose counts as well: the D9 is always read, and for a child the D7. Without a context, when your topics call for no chart, the PDF reads the D9, the D10 and the D60. Eight divisional charts at most, on top of the D1: the reading stays readable.

Trials, fine charts and periods: how they are spoken of

The D6, D8 and D30 speak of trials: the PDF reads them as trials and the strength to get through them, never as an illness, an accident or misfortune foretold. Charts beyond the D12 need a very precise birth time, to within a few minutes for the D60: they are read gently, as a lead.

The Vimshottari periods, the dashas, describe climates and seasons of life: what a period brings to the fore, the levers it offers. Never a dated event. The details of the periods: the Vimshottari dashas.

Who is it for, and in which readings?

The option is offered for all four readings, full, your year ahead, your relationship and your child, for you as well as for a reading given as a gift. For a couple, “Your Vedic charts” reads each of the two, then their bond through each one’s D9 and the Darakarakas; for your year, the chapter follows the current sub-period and those coming within the year.

You need your exact birth time, as for any tailored reading: every Vedic chart starts from its Ascendant. “Your Vedic chart” takes two pages from your topics, and the PDF keeps its 20 to 25 pages: five chapters are left for your topics in a full reading, instead of six (the topics and their chapters).

Frequently asked questions

Can the tailored reading include Vedic astrology?

Yes, with the “With Vedic astrology” option: your sidereal chart, calculated by the site, is crossed with your Western chart in every chapter, and a “Your Vedic chart” chapter presents your D1, your nakshatras, your Atmakaraka and your periods. You need your exact birth time.

Which divisional charts does the PDF read?

Those your topics and your context call for, eight at most, on top of the D1: the D9 for relationships, the D10 for career, the D2 and the D11 for money, the D24 for studies, the D60 for karma. Without a context, when your topics call for none, the D9, the D10 and the D60. The professional mode reads them all.

Does the Vedic option cost more?

No: the tailored reading keeps its price and its 20 to 25 pages. The “Your Vedic chart” chapter takes two pages from your topics, which keep their place, alone or several to a chapter.

Why are my signs different in Vedic astrology?

The Vedic zodiac follows the stars, the Western one the seasons: about 24 degrees separate them, the ayanamsa, and the site uses the Lahiri one. Your Sun often moves back one sign. The PDF says so once, always names the chart it is talking about and never mixes placements from the two zodiacs.

Can the PDF predict an event through the dashas?

No. The Vimshottari periods describe climates, seasons of life and their levers, never a dated event. The D6, D8 and D30 are read as trials and the strength to get through them, never as an illness or misfortune foretold.
